I don't agree with some of the comments comparing Twilight to Harry Potter. I know both book series backwards and forwards (and many others, I read A lot. the comparisons are going to come #1-both are beloved book series and #2-because Robert Pattinson is in both movies.
I love both of these book series, they are well thought out and sometimes take you in directions that you weren't expecting which is awesome! And the plots and character are all solid.
The thing for me though, is that I felt that Twilight (the movie) really encompasses the heart and soul of the book. There were some differences - of course - you can't go word for word when adapting a book to the big screen, but I still always feel that big * SIGH* when the movie Twilight is over and I can't wait to go see it again.
On the other hand the Harry Potter movies are entertaining, yes, but I've come out of each movie feeling the "Lacking" for what the book represents. The HP movies could be so much better... I just feel that there's a missing piece.
I've discussed both book series and movies with friends who've also read the books and seen the movies and even a couple who've not read the books but have seen the movies, and have found overwhelmingly that they agree with my assessment.

9:05 look how he looked before and how he looks now... Ok the final battle imo is the best scene. I honestly walked into this movie thinking it was going to be mediocre. This movie far exceeded my expectations, I loved it. It was unexpectedly funny and actually followed the book somewhat. The actors were also unexpectedly really good and played out there parts quite well. The best part for me was the biology scene it was so funny because Edward looked truly repulsed, and disgusted at the site of Bella. I would highly recommend anyone to watch this movie! The scenic view was absolutely beautiful, stunning if I may add. Wow! how beautiful Forks, Washington is I would like to go there sometime just because of how this movie made it look. I will definitely watch this movie again, it's worth it.
